Ingrid Gauslaa Hårstad

Ingrid is the director of Grønt kompetansesenter Mære-Skjetlein. She has a special interest in soil health and regenerative agriculture, and has been behind the marking of World Soil Day on 4 December at Skjetlein upper secondary school and Mære agricultural school for the past four years. Ingrid has studied regenerative agriculture at Høgskolen for Grønn Utvikling and at Dr. Elaine Ingham’s SoilFoodWeb school.

Ingrid analyses soil and compost using a microscope, and serves on the board of Faglag for regenerativt landbruk i Trøndelag as well as on the advisory council of Regenerativt Norge. She holds a degree in animal science (Sivilagronom) from NLH/NMBU and keeps Limousin and Dexter cattle on the farm she runs together with her husband in Åfjord.

All life on earth depends on life in the soil. Soil, plant, animal, and human health are connected. The greatest biodiversity is found in healthy soil. The changes needed to improve soil health require engagement from more actors in society - not only agriculture. Knowledge and information are important, and everyone can contribute. Ingrid wants to bring together all the soil-health forces in Trøndelag as a team that collaborates and invites input on how this can be put into practice in Trøndernes Levende Jordlab (Living Soil Lab).
