Bjørn Willemoes-Wissing

Bjørn is a trained geologist from Aarhus University in Denmark. In the late 1990s, he worked for around a year and a half for Denmark’s former Forest and Nature Agency (Skov- og Naturstyrelsen), mapping soils in areas where forest was to be established. Since then, Bjørn has been employed at the Geological Survey of Norway, where he has gained 10 years of experience in microscopy, electron microscopy, and microanalysis of rocks.

Bjørn currently works at Fosen Folk High School, where he teaches the subject Self-sufficiency, which covers a wide range of topics within craft traditions, outdoor life, and food production. In particular, working with the soil has sparked a strong interest in microscopy of the soil’s microscopic life - something he will talk about during JordFestival, in addition to showing photos and videos of soil life as seen from a microscope.
